Ava, she's kinda new, give her some time to get used to us before we break out the teeth and claws. ;P

We've been throwing birdseed on-site for nigh on 15 years now, with no complaints from the rangers. Invasives are a serious issue, it's true, but birdseed's pretty low on the "going to choke out natives" list, especially given that the fields on site are seeded in non-native grasses at least twice a year.

Back on-topic: Kevin, feel free to charge what people will pay for. I will point out that they're pretty cheap to make on your own if people don't want to be lazy.

Apologies...I wasn't trying to be mean and scary, just get a point across...parks and such generally have the rules they do for a reason, and having done a bit of the "thankless public servant" type work with similar public attitudes, it struck a nerve.

Teeth and claws retracted, apology extended...

**edited to cut out a lot of long explanatory stuff that basically boiled down to "but I'm right anyways"...because yeah, I realize that can come across as pretty jerky.

Wow....
(Cutting shiz that didn't need saying)

The joke therein being that the reason we used birdseed was because if packets were misplaced or left behind, they readily biodegraded and were generally harmless.  The park rangers were shown these things back when we started playing there.  Thus the attitude I have now that they've suddenly changed their mind.  (Nevermind that the packets they keep finding are from a different LARP and we're tired of catching flack over their carelessness.)

Apologies for hijacking.  And yeah, I've seen people sell packets for 15-20 bucks per hundred at nero before.  Seems reasonable enough, if people would rather pay than make their own.  :3  I support the initial point of the topic!

Somebody last gather (I forgot who. . . . ) was telling me how he saw a squirrel carrying packets one by one up into a tree.  Prewrapped snacks for later!

When I first started playing and staying in high town, one of my favorite morning activities was to watch the squirrels.  Before anyone starts moving around, you will see them out gathering the spell packets and carrying them back to their nests.  They chase all over gathering up the spell packets and their actions as they scurry around are very amusing.

Looking things over, I think that $20 per hundred is the way to go.  At the current gob to packet ratio of 1:6, it makes more sense financially.  I could make 100 packets for 16 2/3 gob plus 1 gob per dollar spent on supplies.  At the exchange rate of 1 gob per dollar, I would be "selling" my packets to plot for about $18 per hundred.

I hope that makes sense, it sort of does to me (kinda).  Of course, this would be for basic packets; cheapest material, single banded, etc.  For more personalized packets (special color fabric, double banded, specific tail length), we could figure out a slight increase in cost.

Still in the planning stages, but still want the input.

Thanks for your help, interest, and snarky comments

If i would buy packets $20 for 100 would not be a bad price. If you are going to start selling them let me know, I might have a need for some in the coming future.

I was not aware that the squirrels were hording packets. If I get pelted in the head and a squirrel cheeps his appropriate verbal, do I still take damage?
And, Kevin, I think that also spreads some light on where your packets have run off to.

Okey dokey.  So being lazy after a summer chock full of craziness, I will not have any extra packets to sell for this event.  I will begin taking orders for October starting ... now.

Remember, it will be 50 for $10 or 100 for $20, basic.  That is all, over and roger dodger, silencio.
