I know that on the old sloar website there was a place where you could find the history of shadowmoor. I was wondering if there is still somewhere that it could be found.

True.  However, for the website especially a good intro backstory would be great to hook new players.  Also, some added info on why we're in Amroth now.  Not to mention a map of at least the Oasis so we can finally once and for all end the "how long does it take to get to _____" argument I run into fairly often.  Also, isn't there a at least a bit of common knowledge Amroth location stuff we can add?  It would help the RP side of my experience.

thanks daemien, I was just trying to get a back story for my character, and did not want to be doing things that are not possible, like being in the oasis before there was one, among other things

What I find interesting is that there is such a long history to Smoor itself, due to being around for 14 years now.  Which is why I find this thread interesting.

Yes, you do need enough info to give you a good back story.  True in any larp, and I hope you get the info needed.

Also, there are so many players that have come for a while that have those stories... some recorded!

As for maps and such that is all really IP unfortunately.  Where ever your character came from, they didn't have access to a whole heck of a lot of info, hence why adventuring is so much "high adventure" to the "common folk".

I hope that makes sense.

Chris isn't the only one that wants a map lol.    Give us a map...pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Anyways, backstory is pretty much skys the limit.

Basically to sum Shadowmoor up, here is what has happened thus far.... (Very limited summary)

First Oasis was colonized back in Tyrra (AKA Clanthia....year 597).   There were two big migrations, another with dwarves in 605).  Mainly farmers and such, hardly if any noblility, and since the Oasis was cut off from the Clanthian kingdoms by mtns, the high druid took charge.... (came from Shadowmoor Tyrian races)
At this time frame, you have a basis for any non amorthian character to come in, being we have been in Amorth for only 4-6 years round abouts.

For Example: Sir Alexander was born in the Oasis, was born to Tyrian settlers, thus why he is human, but not a barbarian (Farmers).

Shortly after the migrations, be it the planes, primarchs, or someone that had wayyyyy too much time on their hands, they moved the Oasis from Tyrra, to Amorth (IP reasons as Russ states below, ask IP).

Thus starts up the Amorth race backstories from here and I suggest one read the race packets for their species to begin with.  (read Ava's post more explanation of the arrival of the Oasis).

Ok, that should be correct with the dates now for backstories to begin with.   This is not to be used as straight undeniable fact, but as any IP general knowledge one has growing up to help with a backstory.  Check the site under races for both lands, they do have some information and the race packets help a lot.   Make sure to read Ava's post and Russ's important info in there.

Btw, for any "current" information on the Oasis from the solarinc.org website you might want to read carefully.  The Oasis still exists in Clanthia and is very different now.  The Great Druid is technically still there.

Some characters have different IP opinions about why there really isnt a crater in the ground in Tyrra.

There are IP reasons why there is no crater on Tyrra.

As for a map... they do exist.  You have to find one IP.

As for the brief history you quoted above from the solarinc website, please IM me the link.  I personally think that info is suspect.   IMPORTANT: Take that info as IP and therefore keep in mind it could be wrong.  Sort of like a rumor or story you heard in the tavern from a drunk...

Just my ten cents... my two cents is free.

Seeing as how the planeshift (Tyrra->Amroth) took place only about 4-5 years ago, you may need to re-work that backstory...  Yes, in the grand scheme of things Shadowmoor-the-town wasn't around for a terribly long time(not centuries, anyways) but it has spent more time on Tyrra than Amroth.  As recently as six years ago, people could(and did) travel by foot from Shadowmoor to Clanthia without the use of portals.  If your character is not a native Amrothian (i.e. one of the "Races of Amroth"), and doesn't have an excellent reason(Fae, a few others) for having been born on another plane, chances are you were born on Tyrra.  As for the moving-the-oasis, I'd say it's pretty likely that Tyrrans who were in the oasis at the time it got moved would know that things were different(the stars, for example, look different than they did, and what used to be north is now a different direction, etc), but maybe not necessarily why, and Amrothians would have heard that this bunch of people fell out of the sky, but wouldn't know the whys and wherefores...that part is(or should be) FOIP.  There are enough folks around in-play who were there when it happened and can tell the story, it's not that hard a story to get told to you in-play.
