Shadowmoor has a membership with the Friends of Kings Mountain State Parkhttp://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/group.php?gid=128238220556146&ref=mf We are trying to do what we can to help out the Park, since they have had a big cut in their budget. If you want to help with the friends group, sign up on the face book page.

One of the projects we want to get started is updating the bathhouse at Camp York. It is currently Yucky and we want to see if we can raise money/get donations to fix the floors so there isn't a problem with standing water, get screens on the doors and windows to control the bugs, and generally make it a nicer place to shower.

One thing we want to do is host a haunted storytelling on October 15. They are having Pioneer Days at the farm, so we wanted to have a few folks dressed up in appropriate costumes telling ghost stories that night. We would need several GOOD storytellers with appropriate ghost stories from 1850s (revolutionary war ghost stories will also work). We will also need folks who are willing and able to help get cars parked and help direct people.

We will be giving blanket to anyone who helps us with this. Because this will be very hard to pull off if folks don't show up, please only volunteer if you are absolutely able to be there. If you can commit to helping, shoot me a PM.

I also want to see how many folks would be interested in a workday in the first two weeks of December. We are going to have a workday in March or April, but I would like to get some work done while the weather is really cold. There is an old building behind the Healers Guild that the Park will allow us to clean out and fix up, so we can store some of the bigger plot props, tarps, and such. It will make my life easier and have stuff available on site for Plot to use at every event, not just when I can find room in the trailer.

The building will need to be cleaned out, new stairs (or preferably a ramp) built, and possibly patched. If we have enough volenteers and time, I'd also like to start working on fixing any cabin with holes in the screens. It makes it easier to clean the cabins id there aren't bugs and such coming in.

I will, of course, offer build reward for folks that help out.

We are postponing the Hunted Farm due to timing, as in not enough time to properly plan and execute.  We thought we could pull it together quickly and on short notice but rather than do it half-assed, we thought it best plan for next year and do it right!

I believe we could do it early spring 2011, when it's still chilly at night and bill it as "Camp fire ghost stories".  And instead of holding it at the Living Farm, we can do it at Camp York.  The site already has a large fire pit in front of the tavern, we can use the benches from in the tavern and a whole stack of cut wood that just needs to be split.   PLUS, if it were to rain, we could move the whole sha-bang into the tavern and build a fire in the fire place.  It's always good to be able to say an event is "Rain or Shine"!

Any thoughts or suggestions?
