Question! Music or dancing? Are we having any?

When I think of feast/festival, I think games, food, dancing, etc. Will there be any music? Maybe we could use a 'gnomish music making device" aka an ipod to a stereo, or an mp3 player, and play some music that sounds close to the time period?
I have some celtic music, and Nightwish, if anyone doesn't mind the idea. If not, post some of your own! I don't think it would be as fun without dancing, personally. Especially if you bring a date.

In keeping with the Wachagga/polynesian theme of this years feast. I would like to do some fire spinning for everyone. Not sure how Kieth and Becca would feel about this and would need to know if the park would be cool with it. Anyway I am fire spinner and love to perform. So if this is a good idea that will be okay with all involved. Then I will bring my fire staff and put o a show for you guys.

I have speakers that I hook my Ipod into when I am the only one working in the kitchen (early Fridays). I usually have them on site each event.

Does it work with mp3 players as well, Nancy? or just ipods? Also, if it works, would you mind it being used?
and lol, Trey, PM Becca about it? That sounds awesome though ^^

Jeremiah tells me that they will also work with m3p players. Yes, you may use them.

Alrighty! So, for any of you who don't have facebook, or just don't look at is as often as you do the forums, I'll post what music suggestions I've gotten so far, and when I get closer to figuring out the playlist, I'll post a draft of it or a final up here as well.
If you have any suggestions please let me know! Preferably closer to the time period though, that give off a 'Shadowmoor' vibe. If they sound a bit... off, I'll not be putting them in the playlist.
So far I've gotten;
Nightwish
Blind Guardian
Bill Whelan
Celtic Woman
The Lord of the Dance
Irish Rovers
Celtic Legends
Voltaire
Uncle Hamish and the Hooligans
Curse My Name
Sonata Arctica
Elvenking
Nightfall
(more will be added accordingly/crossed out)

On a dancing note, Becca suggested we have a few circle dances, especially for the folks who aren't that into dancing. Fairly simple. You dancing in a circle, holding hands, and it'll be improvisational, for the most part, I guess. f more people watch the video I have, you'll notice these girls adding toe points into this. So, if you wanna d your homework and watch this snippet for feast, go for it. otherwise, you'll see/learn this short dance anyway.

Fire Spinning will most likely be vetoed-wood buildings + costumes = not super safe. I suggest using led glow sticks instead of live flame.

We've had poi onsite before - it was done a couple of years ago by some lovely belly-dancers who came in to provide entertainment. It was simply done out by the fire-pit below the Tavern, with PLENTY of clearance for everybody to be sitting well away from any potential fling-age. That being said, any potentially dangerous activities onsite are always evaluated by management on a case-by-case basis.

Becca already approved the fire spinning-yes it is going to be outside. And yes, it will be away from any highly flammable things, etc.

Hey :-) While I appreciate everybody's efforts to make Potluck Feast truly awesome, and any and all ideas are welcome, please do be aware, this is an IP party, held by a PC :-) I would much rather we have polynesian/island/african/even bellydance style music than european/celtic stuff. More tribal, less polished, it's an Islander's party :-) Fire spinning will be awesome for a polynesian feel, but if we can stay away from the nightwish style music, and keep it to a low volume, I'd be a happy ginger :-)

I only had 2/3 songs from nightwish fit for this, and bellydance music/tribal music sounds awesome too!
I'll get right to work on that!
