Not to disuade (as I am a musician myself) but I can't tell you the number of times that I've seen people bring instruments to a larp event and then never use them.
Plus I am pretty sure that as musicians, we can agree that having something damaging happen to a guitar when monsters ransack the tavern would be a bad thing.
Ava's got an awesome point though. Having a bard hanging out playing in the tavern could be kinda cool. Especially if you have a few "bar fight" tunes ready to play when the baddies show up ;-)

We have folks occasionally bring guitars and such to play in the tavern. I don't think there's ever been an issue before.
We also have the occasional drum circle and the like. If you want to do something IP, it's up to you to make it happen, but there shouldn't be any issues with it.

Anyone know where I can get an ocarina? I don't think my parents would be too happy about me bringing my guitar to Shadowmoor for fear that something might happen to it.

If price is not a issue try hunting down a guy named Spencer Register. In my opinion he is the greatest maker in the world and he lives tight here in NC. Im saving up to get an acoustic 6 string bass, i do plan on jamming at a meet eventually simply cuz i think itll be cool!
Although ill have to practice with flatwounds to be more "in the period" with my instrument.
