That's because the folks running the Clanthia site moved the filename. (Which, to be honest, they should have... the updated rulebook is not 1.8 anymore).

Here's the current link: http://solarinc.org/SOLAR_PHB.pdf

They could have aliased it, or 301 redirected it, tho. (Sorry, the geek in me came out.)

Just to make sure I understand the specialty restrictions... Are they saying that, as a Templar, I may eventually posses a Healer column, an Earth Gen. column, and a Celestial Gen. column, but I may NEVER pick up a specialty in the Celesial list? Or am I forever restricted to only the 1 specialty and 1 generalist column.

I know I am new, but to weigh in on that... In either of the above cases I think its a nice balance. When I was making my character I was looking at the build differences between Scholar and Templar. As far as spells go, you could get your entire 4 wide in your first column for only an extra 15 or 20 build; but you are buying all of your Profs and weapon skills much cheaper. I think it provides more incentive to play the Scholar over the Templar.

Gene - you are correct.

As a Templar you can have: 1 specialized school (of your choice), AND one earth generalist, AND one celestial generalist.

It is important to point out that if you choose to specialize in earth magic, then some of the earth generalist spells may be off-limits to you (due to specialty class restrictions).
